AMERICAN COUNCIL OF ENGINEERING COMPANIES/MARYLAND’S
OFFICIAL NEW OFFICER BALLOT – 2022-2023
Hello ACEC/MD Firm Representatives!
This year, we would like to introduce a new (and hopefully) easier voting process for the 2022-23 ACEC/MD New Officers and Directors Ballot.
**One major item to note**
This year, we are behind in the voting process according to our Bylaws. As such, we ask that when you cast your vote, you also vote to Approve or Reject a one-time temporary change to the dates/timing of the voting and ballot per our Bylaws.
Current Bylaws: https://www.acecmd.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/Bylaws-5-2020.pdf
“SECTION 4. ELECTION AND TERM OF OFFICE
(b) On or before April 1 the Nominating Committee shall report in writing to the Executive Director and the Secretary the names of the candidates selected and their consent to serve, whereupon the Secretary or the Executive Director shall immediately send an official ballot to each member firm in good standing. The ballot shall list the official nominees and a space for a write-in vote for another candidate for each office. It shall also clearly state that only ballots properly signed and executed and returned to the Secretary by May 1 will be counted.
(c) Three (3) Tellers appointed by the President shall in the presence of the Secretary or through electronic inspection by the Secretary, open and count the ballots. For each office the candidate receiving a majority of the votes cast shall be declared elected. In case of a tie vote, the Executive Committee will elect one of the candidates so tied. On or before May 15 the Secretary shall apprise the membership in writing of the election results. The tellers chosen by the President should be representatives from member firms in good-standing and have a strong working knowledge of the business of ACEC/MD.”
